A Snippet of Santa Fe NM

Santa Fe is one of the oldest cities in the U.S.A.....over 400 years old. Here are a few of the characteristics of the city that I enjoyed!

 The adobe buildings!

The narrow streets..
Remember the city is over 400 years old...so the first roads....were for donkeys...
As well some of the downtown roads are irregular...they don't all line up!
A walk between two buildings.... and you have a courtyard.
A quiet place amidst the busy downtown area!
The Plaza
  The Markets
A wonderful city to explore!!

Taos New Mexico

The drive to Taos and back is very scenic...
You have Desert views...
And Mountain views...

We only spent a day there so... we never got to see all that there is there...but we did visit the Taos Pueblo a 1000 year old community.
A couple interesting things...
Before the 1900's there would of been no doors and few windows..they used ladders to the roofs and entered from the top of the building. That way they could lift the ladders to avoid others from entering.
There is no running water or power in the compound...

We also visited the Rio Grande Gorge..

A wonderful day trip!

Santuario de Chimayo

We are heading home eventually....... taking the long way and knocking a few things off our "Bucket List".

We would like to visit every state....and for New Mexico I thought the Sante Fe / Taos area would be interesting.

We thought we would take a day trip to Taos taking the High Road and Low Road....
we were informed...that we may not get thru the High Road because of the Pilgramage..... and it was the beginning of Easter weekend...
We did pass people on there way...Some walk almost 90 miles....
Here is the Santuario de Chimayo...built in the 1800's
The grounds around the Sanctuary... will be filled on Good Friday!
Have a blessed Easter

Cleopatra Hilll

On Cleopatra Hill..... there are buildings on the hillside...
The road to get there looks something like this...
The streets are narrow... the roads are curvy...and you have the Ghost Town of Jerome! It was a booming mining town in the late 1800's and early 1900's...but was deserted in 1953 and became the largest Ghost Town in America...

Jerome was a wonderful place to visit...

To be continued....

Yuma Quilt Top

I really didn't think I could finish it....living in our little park model...
without a proper cutting area...
but the top is is done!
I proudly took it down to the clothes line for a picture shot....
As I was working on my post.... guess what??? I made a mistake!!!.... Can you see it??

Well I fixed it up... and humbly hung it in our back yard...for its photo shot:)
I'll square it up at home..... and give it a good pressing,
~My summer project will be hand quilting~
