Something old....

When we bought our house....the previous owners never had time to depose of some 'garbage'....
In that garbage hubby found this...
We saw possibilities.....so we stored it for the past 10 months under our deck.
We had thought of a small island in our kitchen.... couldn't find anything that worked .... then I thought of that old piece of furniture!
Hubby made it stable...made the drawers workable.
I sanded it....then painted it ..destressed it...

Hubby made a top from 'old' wood....it had 'greyed' but by the time he cut and sanded.... it look like new wood!

I tried the vinegar and steel wool on it (that is suppose to grey wood...but it made the wood look like cedar....

So I then stained it grey and sanded like crazy...then stained and sanded again...Gave it too coats of wax...
And I was happy with it! (It almost matches our flooring??!!)

It has wheels on it so we can move it where we like....it works super!!

  4. You did a fabulous job!!! I love the way the top turned out! That little rolling island would have cost you a pretty penny if you bought it already done like that! I'm loving your life......
